I must be grateful
"Dad, will you push me again. Dad, will you push me again. HaaaHaaaHaa" Travis is home for lunch, and TJ's voice rings outside my window. I sit in my room, with my computer on my lap, Arra is finally taking a nap. I feel exausted, the kids have been sick, there is a show my husband must get up. I can't sleep at night with the sound of coughing in the room next door. The laundry is piled miles high and if I walk out of Arra's sight, there is a wail as though the world has fallen apart. There are bills to be paid, I need to take a shower. The free babysitting at University Church for Valentines day (I thought) was for the Saturday before, and I didn't realize it. Some nights I simply cry out in a silent tears and pray that my children can peacefully sleep so that I can as well.
And then in a single moment, something will hit me, and I know that I wouldn't change anything for the world. Today that one thing was the faces of Kari's daughters in this blog. They don't have their mommy to dress them. Keri can't hear the wail from her baby's lips crying out for her. I must embrace everyday, the good the bad and when I hear my babies cry, when I wash the endless baskets of clothes, when I feel there is nothing more of me that I can give, I must thank God. I must be filled with gratitude that I have been given one more day to experience this mysterious journey called life.
You all are my family, I thank God for you. I just needed to share.
-Kate

I wanted to be the first to post on your blog but someone beat me. O well as long as I get to post I will be happy.
I'm happy to be a part of your family too, Kate. Ecstatic is a better word. I am blessed to have you in my life. Next time you feel a wail coming on - call me.
WRITE SOMETHING!!!!
Oh my word!! I found you...!!!
I would get so tired because we had established a habit of sitting by Sam's bed until he was asleep. There were some nights when I did not want to do it and wished I had him trained so I could shut the door and he would just go to sleep. I had spoiled him and I didn't know what to do. Sam starts high school next year and to this day he calls me to come to him to say goodnight. I look back on those nights when I just wanted to fall into my bed and now, I am so thankful for those moments together. Whitney, even into high school would come into our bedroom and say, " Mom I am going to bed, come say goodnight." I would go sit on her bed turn out the light and her heart would open with stories that I loved to hear and some that I didn't want to hear. Its exhaustingly beautiful, Kate..I love you..
sorry this is 5 pages long!!!
We had the same routine with Max and to this day he still asks us to come "tuck him in". It really is precious time, Kate. I also remember wishing that wasn't one of our habits at times. Now I'm glad it is.
